Create a Vision – the Overlooked Success Secret

Most of the people who come to me for coaching are looking for something outside of them-self for success.  They want the scripts, the tools, the how- tos, etc.

Does this sound familiar. That’s where I was when I was getting started.

I spent a lot of time and money trying to figure out “How”.

Then I finally had someone tell me that first I needed to figure out my “Why”.

But even after I had figured out my “Why”, I was still looking for that magic bullet, the secret to success, the one thing that would flip the switch and allow me to become successful.

Is there a real secret?

I believe there is… but it doesn’t come from outside of you. Most leaders will tell you to create your “Why”. I believe it requires more than that…
…the secret is you have to create your “Who”!

If you truly want to transform your life to something different, you must create a vision of “who you want to become”…
rather than reasons “why” you want to succeed in your business, or “what” you want to have or do.

When you only discover a why, you are still likely to be influenced by everyone else’s beliefs, opinions, and agendas. Any little distraction will sidetrack you from staying committed to what you once committed to.

Once you create a crystal clear vision of “WHO you want to be” and commit to BEING (not just acting like) that person…Success will find you! You will know “Why”, you will know “What” to do, and “When” you should do it, and the “How” will come to you.

Just so you don’t misunderstand me – I’m not saying that suddenly everything becomes easy. You will still experience difficulties, roadblocks, resistance, opposition, disagreement, and negative judgement from others.

If all you have is reasons…
when your first challenge hits you, your energy will go into questioning yourself  and what you are doing rather than taking action that will move you forward.

But if you have a true vision of WHO YOU ARE AND WHO YOU ARE BECOMING…

• - you won’t need others to agree with you,
• - you won’t question if what you are doing is the right thing,
  like when someone else quits your company, or stops answering the phone.
• - you won’t hesitate when someone challenges you
  because WHO YOU ARE cannot be questioned, cannot be denied…it’s what is.

Today, set aside some time to think.
Who are YOU?
Who do you want to become?

When you create your vision, instead of just a why…
you will become unstoppable!

One way is to write a testimonial or comment on the website for a service or product you have used. Because thes always carry a link to the person who wrote the it, if your comment remains you will have a backlink.

Press Release Backlinks:

You can also get high quality backlinks by submitting a press release to be distributed to thousands of different news and press sites. If your Press release is well written it may give you super quality backlinks for free.

Social Bookmark Backlinks:

Social Bookmarking sites allow you to save your favorite bookmarks online to read later. Doing this also gives you a free backlink.

Article Submission Backlinks:

Article submission is one of the best ways to rank any primary keyword in the 1st position, however it can be very time consuming because in order to see results you will need to submit a lot of articles.

Quality Content Backlinks:

When you publish quality content that people enjoy reading,they will share it, like it, tweet it, link it in their posts, etc. Writing quality content will result in a lot of quality viral backlins to your site.

Sometimes Life Gets in the Way

More often than not, things will not go according to your original plan because life circumstances will get in the way. How you deal with that can have a significant impact on whether you move forward or get stuck.

I have to give my dad credit for instilling in me the idea that there are two sides to every coin, meaning there is always more than just one way to look at any situation.

In this short video I share with you how I like to approach those times when life gets in the way.

The next time life gets in the way of your plans, stop for a moment and be grateful for all that you have. Take a look at all of the options that are available to you and realize that maybe, just maybe, you are being led in a better direction.

Belief – Whether You Have It or Not Will Determine Your Success

Does the topic of belief ever cross your mind?

Last night, at our  company event in downtown Dallas, it struck me how comfortable I was talking to everyone who was there, how confident I felt surrounded by that particular group of people. I had to stop for a moment and ask myself “WHY?”
Then it hit me….

Everyone of us had no question about why we were there, no second guessing about our company or our product or the fact that what we are doing and sharing is helping others.

What we all have is BELIEF!

So when I got back to my room, I remembered an MLSP Total Transformation webinar on the subject of BELIEF  by Diane Hochman and decided to review it.

Belief is a very important topic, much bigger than I originally envisioned.

Diane talked about the steps she took to transform herself from someone who had very little belief in herself (mopping floors at her local grocery store) to the mega-leader she is today, and I was surprised at how similar my path has become to hers.

I got to thinking about Belief as it relates to business, particularly Network Marketing.

So today I am going to share with you a combination of my thoughts and what Diane covered in her training on Belief.

Belief – The 4 Levels of Belief

There are 4 levels of belief that one must have to be a successful Network Marketer:

Belief in the Industry

Get this message right now or save yourself a lot of time and frustration and get out.

If you don’t believe that Network Marketing is an exceptionally profitable model by which companies can market their products, and if you don’t believe that Network Marketing as an industry can change people’s lives, then you need to find another business model to work with.

You are going to run into the haters who call it a pyramid model or the naysayers who claim nobody succeeds in Network Marketing (the same people who joined an MLM Company, did nothing and quit). That’s what they believe.

What you must do is either get yourself straightened out (read Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki) or find another business model you CAN believe in.

Belief in the Network Marketing industry is non-negotiable if you want to succeed in MLM.

Belief in your MLM Company

What about your company?

Do you fully believe in the leadership? Have you met the owners of the company? Do you find them to be stand up people dedicated to helping others through their company? Are their guiding principles in line with your own?

If the answer is NO, then keep looking for a company that is aligned with your principles and beliefs.

Belief in your Company’s Product Line

Do you believe in the products?

Are you a “product of the products”- do you like and use what tthe company has to offer. Do you fully believe that your company’s products will benefit others, possibly even be transformational in nature?

I know people who left an MLM company because the product line changed so drastically that they no longer had the level of belief that others would benefit from using them.

Belief in the products you are going to represent is a must if you want to be a successful Network Marketer.

Belief in YOURSELF

Just because I listed this belief last doesn’t mean that it’s least important.

Actually, the opposite is true.

Success starts with a belief in yourself.

In Diane’s webinar, she quoted Wallace Wattles who said (I am paraphrasing), “A million dollar action is always preceded with a million dollar thought” I would add that a million dollar thought is preceded by a million dollar belief in yourself.

If you don’t believe in yourself, chances are no one else will believe in you, either. You just won’t be able to fool anyone. Your lack of belief will shine through at every turn.

Perhaps I should have listed the belief in yourself FIRST, because it a MANDATORY belief before you can find success in any area of your life, including your business.

Here is what I consider to be the magic formula for Network Marketing Success when it comes to belief:

Belief in Yourself + Belief in the Industry + Belief in your Company + Belief in your Products = the Recipe for Success.

It all starts with Belief.

When I started thinking about how to make a video, it occurred to me that one of the simplest ways today is by using Google Hangouts.

Not only can you record a hangout, but there are many features available with it, and it is absolutely free. You don’t even need a camera.

How to Make a Video – Method 1

This is probably the simplest way to create a video.

Just record a Google hangout using one powerpoint slide. No worries about how you look on camera, and you can actually read a script if you want.

How to Make a Video – Method 2

This is the second easiest way to make a video, if you know how to use powerpoint slides.

Just like the above method, except you use multiple slides instead of just one.

How to Make a Video – Method 3

For most people this is the scariest way to make a video, because you have to actually show your face on the screen.

But in other ways this is the quickest and easiest, because you don’t have to create any slides. All you have to do is start recording a hangout and start talking.

Here is an example of how to make a video using method 3.

Advantages of Using Google Hangout

The biggest advantage of using Google Hangouts to create your video is that once you stop broadcasting, your video is automatically processed and stored on your YouTube channel.

Just start a hangout on broadcast – end it- and you’re done. I doesn’t get much simpler.

How to Make a Video that Gets Lots of Views

Getting your video to rank in the search engines and get lots of views is a much more complicated subject.

 Financial Independence – A True Win-Win Solution

As I read an article today about things we can agree on written by the executive director of our local United Way, Gordon Thibedeau, I started thinking about the issue of financial independence. I believe that is something can all agree on.

Gordon’s words really struck home, so I’m going to share a little of what he wrote:

“Too often the news is filled with stories focused on issues that divide us as a community and as a nation – gun control, taxes and gay marriage, to name a few. With each side passionately rooted in a deeply held belief, it’s very difficult to find common ground and move forward.

Regardless of where you stand on today’s hot-button issues, I encourage you to look for subjects that unite us rather than focus on those that divide us. That begs the question: Is there anything on which we can all agree? I thinks so.

• We can agree that we all benefit when children succeed in school and life and grow up to be contributing members of our community….
• We can agree that when families are financially stable and independent, the effects ripple throughout our local economy…
• We can agree that homelessness, hunger, and poverty need to be addressed  to keep our community a great place to live, work and play…

These statements speak to the belief that we ALL have a stake in creating a prosperous and healthy community…”

Powerful words, Gordon.  I agree whole-heartedly.

During my life I have done what I could to be involved in our community. I first met Gordon when, as president of the board for a non-profit group named Partners which matches troubled youth with an adult mentor. We hired Gordon to be our director. He has since gone on to take on take on much larger responsibilities at United Way and is a true community leader.

Having been in the restaurant business, I’ve long been a supporter of our local food distribution center, donating  food to more local  fund-raising events than I can count, and acting as an adviser in numerous food and youth related issues.

My focus now is on helping families become financially stable and independent. In the current economy, financial independence seems to be more and more of a challenge.

Favorite Food Recipe – Crockpot Orange Chicken

Ingredients:
2 large carrots, peeled and sliced about 1/2-inch thick
2 large red or green bell peppers, cut into 1/2-inch chunks
3 cloves garlic, finely minced
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
8 ounces orange juice concentrate
2 cups Mandarin orange segments or fresh orange segments
2 Green onions, chopped
hot cooked rice
Directions:
Put carrots, peppers, garlic, then the chicken, ginger, salt, pepper & frozen orange juice in Crockpot.
Cover and cook on LOW 4 to 6 hours.
Serve chicken on hot cooked rice on platter.
Top with orange segments and green onions.
Serve chicken liquid in gravy boat, if desired.

Is That What You REALLY Want?

Have you ever heard the Joe Jackson quote,  “You can’t get what you want ’till you know what you want”?

Kinda obvious common sense stuff, right? Makes you think ” Well, duh!”

Yet so many of us go through so much struggle to figure out what we really want.

I mean, how do you know what you really want?
 

And why is it that we often work so hard and struggle to get what we think we want…
only to be disappointed once we get it?

It’s because we don’t have a clear picture of what it is that we REALLY want,
and more importantly, what it will do for us when we get it.

People come up with all sorts of things they want: Money often tops the list. Then there’s Travel, good health, new car, houses, significant other, …

But the desire for stuff  is usually a desire for the feeling we think the stuff will bring. There’s usually  a greater want on the other side..

What I want you to do is ask yourself

“What experience do I hope to have as a result of having achieved my goal(s)?”

Create a chart like the one below.

On the left hand side, list the “symbols” or “surface desires” such as Car, House, Money, Job, Relationship, Children, Travel, etc. (add as many as you want)

Then on the right side, fill in the “experience” or feeling you are hoping the symbol will create: Security, Freedom, Happiness, Fun, Adventure, Love, Peace of Mind, etc.

Once you do this, you should have a clearer understanding of what you REALLY want.

What’s the message?
Focus on creating more of the things on the right, and take your focus off the symbols in the left-hand column,  then watch what happens.

You may be surprised that when you produce the inner experience you are longing for, the outward manifestation (left column) often easily follows suit.

And here’s what’s even more important. You’ll probably find you need less of the “stuff” than you think .

Using money as the example – If you get to the point where you truly have the freedom, security, and peace of mind that you’ve always wanted, will it really matter how much money you actually have? Think about it.

Some people with money have a great sense of freedom and security, others have nothing but misery fear of losing it.

When you focus on the things on the right, the stuff on the left will often show up in abundance. But if it doesn’t, does it really matter, as long as you have What You Really Want?
